The awakener

Uranus

Uranus is the planet of sudden change, freedom and new ideas. It shows where life surprises you, and where you are meant to be different.

Known since
1781

What it stands for

Uranus brings the unexpected. It is originality, invention and the flash of insight that solves a problem overnight. It cares about progress and about humanity as a whole.

It cannot work in harness. It rebels against what feels pointless and it walks its own way, sometimes ahead of everyone else.

Its challenge is sudden swings, in moods and in fortune. The older books said: live a day at a time, save in the good times, and think before you make a sudden change.

How it was read before

Uranus was the first planet found with a telescope, by William Herschel in 1781. The ancients knew nothing of it, and by 1927 astrologers had less than a hundred and fifty years to learn its ways.

They called it the higher form of Mercury: the mind lifted from everyday thought to sudden inspiration. They saw it as a liberator of thought.

They said it stirs every seven years or so as it moves through a sign, and that its people are often out of step with the crowd, because they get somewhere first.

Sit with this

Being different is not a mistake. It might be your purpose.

Sit with this: where in your life are you ready for a breath of fresh air?
