What the sign is like
Pisces takes in everything around it like a sponge and reflects it like a mirror. It is deeply intuitive and very open to the energy of other people.
Under that openness there is a rich inner world, quiet and full. Pisces feels the meaning behind things and looks for causes beneath the surface.
The older books named the risk too: mixing up a dream with what is real, and taking on the views of whoever is near. They said Pisces needs clear water around it. Its surroundings shape it more than most.
With other people
Pisces is a warm, generous friend and a wonderful comfort when you are low. It is devoted in love and wants a lot of closeness.
Its giving can run ahead of good sense, and it can sit back when it needs to speak up. The older books told Pisces to build its confidence and stand up for itself.
They paired Pisces with the other water signs, Cancer and Scorpio. With Gemini, Virgo and Sagittarius they asked Pisces to protect its own will.
How it was read before
The ancients drew two fish swimming in opposite directions, a soul pulled two ways.
They linked Pisces to the sea and to the sea god who was honoured as a rescuer. The ocean mirrors the sky and still rests on solid ground.
Venus is at her strongest in Pisces. In the 1920s Neptune, found in 1846, was given Pisces as its sign. Before that, Jupiter ruled it.
Its tarot card
The card for Pisces is The Moon, and the 1927 book names it.
The book walked through the card's picture: a fading moon over a path between two towers, and a creature rising from the water below. I read The Moon as intuition and the hidden, and a reminder that not everything we see by moonlight is what it seems.
Sit with this
Your sensitivity is a gift. It is also a reason to choose carefully what you let in.
Sit with this: which of the feelings you are carrying today are yours, and which did you pick up from someone else?
